Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Unveiled: Thinnest Phone with 200MP Camera

With its ultra-thin profile and powerful 200MP camera, the S25 Edge aims to reclaim the crown in the hyper-competitive premium smartphone market.

Design: A Marvel of Engineering

At just 6.1mm thick, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is now the thinnest flagship phone the company has ever produced — and arguably the thinnest of any major smartphone brand. Samsung has taken minimalism to a whole new level while maintaining structural integrity through the use of aerospace-grade aluminum alloy and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 3. Despite its thinness, the device maintains an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.

One of the standout design elements is the ‘Infinity Edge’ curved display, which curves more subtly than previous generations to improve usability while preserving its premium aesthetic. The bezels are nearly nonexistent, giving the phone an almost all-screen look from any angle.

Display: Vivid, Bright, and Intelligent

The S25 Edge sports a 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 3200 x 1440 resolution and an adaptive 1–144Hz refresh rate. It supports HDR10+ and offers peak brightness up to 2800 nits, making it easily viewable under direct sunlight. Samsung has also introduced a new AI Display Optimizer that adjusts color tone, brightness, and refresh rate based on what the user is doing—be it gaming, watching content, or browsing the web.

Camera: 200MP Powerhouse with AI Enhancement

The biggest headline feature of the Galaxy S25 Edge is undoubtedly its 200MP main rear camera sensor. This new sensor, developed in-house by Samsung, boasts advanced pixel-binning technology that can dynamically switch between 12.5MP, 50MP, and full 200MP modes depending on lighting conditions and use cases.

The camera module is supported by a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 10x optical zoom, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a ToF (Time-of-Flight) sensor for precise depth mapping. Samsung's new AI Image Fusion Engine combines data from multiple lenses to deliver stunning photos with incredible detail and dynamic range—even in low-light environments.

On the front, the S25 Edge includes a 32MP under-display selfie camera. Improvements to the pixel transparency and AI post-processing have addressed many of the criticisms leveled at earlier under-display camera technologies, resulting in selfies that rival traditional front-facing cameras in clarity.

Performance: Next-Gen Power

The Galaxy S25 Edge is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor, paired with 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB/512GB/1TB UFS 4.1 storage options. Benchmarks reveal up to 35% improved CPU performance and 40% better GPU output compared to the S24 series.

The phone runs One UI 7.0 based on Android 15, offering a more refined user experience with new multitasking tools, lock screen customization, and tighter integration with Samsung’s Galaxy AI suite.

Battery Life and Charging

Despite its ultra-thin frame, the S25 Edge manages to pack a 4,700mAh battery, thanks to Samsung’s new stacked battery design. This provides all-day power for most users. Fast charging supports 65W wired and 45W wireless charging speeds, with a full charge possible in under 35 minutes. Reverse wireless charging is also included, useful for powering up accessories like the Galaxy Buds or Galaxy Watch.

Galaxy AI: Smarter Than Ever

Samsung has doubled down on AI, integrating it into nearly every aspect of the user experience. Galaxy AI powers real-time translation in voice calls, automatic photo editing suggestions, enhanced dictation and note-taking, and adaptive battery management. The camera AI is also capable of scene-based optimization, object removal, and smart framing during photography.

Samsung has partnered with Google to bring Gemini AI integration deeper into the OS, offering smarter suggestions, improved contextual search, and voice commands that go beyond typical assistant functionality.

Connectivity and Security

The S25 Edge supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and 5G Advanced, ensuring it's future-proof for at least the next few years. Samsung has also introduced Quantum Knox Shield, an evolution of its Knox security platform, which includes quantum-grade encryption and real-time app monitoring.

Under-display fingerprint scanning is faster and more accurate thanks to the adoption of Qualcomm’s 3D Sonic Max sensor. Face unlock via the under-display camera has also improved in terms of speed and recognition reliability.

Pricing and Availability

The Galaxy S25 Edge will be available for pre-order starting May 15, with a global launch slated for June 2, 2025. Prices start at $1,199 for the 256GB model, $1,299 for 512GB, and $1,499 for the 1TB variant. Color options include Phantom Black, Titanium Silver, Ocean Blue, and a new Matte Rose Gold exclusive to Samsung’s online store.

Buyers who pre-order will receive a free pair of Galaxy Buds 3 Pro and 6 months of Samsung Care+.

Final Thoughts

With the Galaxy S25 Edge, Samsung is making a powerful statement: innovation in design and performance can still coexist. From its ultra-thin profile to its groundbreaking 200MP camera and AI-powered features, the S25 Edge feels like a genuine leap forward. For users who demand the very best in technology wrapped in a premium design, the S25 Edge is not just a smartphone—it’s a vision of the future.
